US Paralympic Trials Meet
Kate Gibbs (SQST) competed in 6 events in the an attempt to make the US Paralympics Team going to Beijing, but came up just short.  In her division, she won Gold in the 400M Individual Medley (6:29.57) and in the 200M Butterfly (3:05.58), won Silver in the 100M Breaststroke (1:38.70), and won Bronze in the 100M Backstroke (1:25.62), in the 100M Butterfly (1:18.91), and in the 200M Individual Medley (3:03.65).  Unfortunately, the 400 IM and 200 Fly are not Paralympics events.
Congratulations!


Kate Gibbs (SQST) set a new National Disability Record in the 50Y Breaststroke (SB8 classification) at Senior Champs.  Her time was 40.80, breaking the old record by .38 seconds.
 
Kate will compete in the US Paralympic Trials in Minneapolis, MN, April 3-5.  She has qualifying times in the 200M Individual Medley, 100M Butterfly, 100M Breaststroke, 100M Backstroke and 100M Freestyle.  She will also compete in the 200M Butterfly and 400M Individual Medley, although these events are
not swum at the Paralympics.

2007 US Paralympic Open Championships
Kate Gibbs (SQST) competed in the US Paralympic Open Championships at College Park, MD, 6-8 December.  During the meet, Kate won the 200M Butterfly, lowering her Pan American record by 2 seconds in Prelims and another 6 seconds in Finals.

2007 Paralympic Pan-American Swimming Championships
Kate Gibbs (SQST) participated in the Paralympic Pan-American Swimming Championships in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.  She swam in 6 individual events and on both the 4x100M Medley and 4X100M Freestyle Relays.  Both relays took Silver medals.  Kate took a Silver medal in the 100M Butterfly and Bronze medals in the 100M Backstroke, 200M Individual Medley, and 100M Breaststroke.  She also swam the 100M Freestyle and 400M Freestyle and finished 4th in both.  She had best times in all of her individual events.

2007 World Deaf Swimming Championships

DJ represented the USA at the World Deaf Swimming Championships in Taipei, Taiwan.  He competed in the 50M Freestyle (31st, 28.99), 200M Butterfly (DQ), 4X200M Freestyle Relay (8th, 9:28.04), 100M Backstroke (9th, 1:10.93), 4X100M Medley Relay (10th, 4:52.12), 200M Individual Medley (15th, 2:40.94), 50M Backstroke (13th, 33.22), 100M Freestyle (25th, 1:02.70), and 4X100M Freestyle Relay (10th, 4:10.39).
