Rules
Changes
The USA Swimming HoD adopted
the following changes that go into effect on the
dates indicated:
102.7.2 – At the
Meet Referee’s discretion, events may be combined by
age, gender, distance, and/or stroke provided there
is at least one empty lane between such combined
events. The
referee may waive the empty
lane requirement with the concurrence of the coaches
of the affected swimmers.
Effective: Immediately
102.12.1 Preparation – The
Starter shall stand on the side of the pool
within approximately five
meters of the starting end of the pool and
upon signal from the Referee, shall assume control
of the swimmers until a fair start has been
achieved.
Effective: 1 May 2012
103.15/M/Backstroke Flags
and lines: - .3 has been
eliminated. There is
no longer a need for a mid pool line in a LC pool.
Effective:
1 May 2012
104.2.2C(4) (a) the
length of the course shall be
measured and certified by a qualified person
in accordance with the
standards established by USA Swimming.
Effective: 1 May 2012
The meet announcement must
now contain the restrictions of videos, cameras and
cell phones to a specific designated area, but not
allowed in the pool or locker room areas.
Effective: 1 January
2012
YMCA officials are allowed
to be included as observers at a meet.
Effective: Immediately
Completion of
the Athlete Protection Education
Course is now a requirement for membership. It
must be done before renewing for next year and every
two years thereafter.
Effective: Immediately
Several Open Water rules were added/changed to make
participation more safe.
